DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – SafeHome.org ranked Dothan number 11 when it comes to the safest cities in Alabama.
The criteria to help determine this ranking was gathered from 2018 FBI data from law enforcement on property crimes, violent crimes, citizen-to-officer ratio, and property crime trends.
Dothan overall score was close to a 74 and Dothan Police Chief Steven Parrish says that the department numbers from 2018 have remained consistent with previous years.
The highest numbers of crimes in the city are larceny, theft, and burglary and numerous data are being tracked by DPD in order to keep citizens safe.
“You know we will take any praise we can get and Dothan is a good safe city and a good place to live,” Parrish said.
Neighboring city Enterprise was also on the list three slots above Dothan at number 8.
