DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan First Seventh-day Adventists Church held a ribbon-cutting for the brand new shower and laundry trailer. The trailer is sponsored by the Gulf States Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
The 21-foot trailer features two commercial washer and dryers, two toilets, and two showers. The trailer will be used for the homeless population and for those who have been through natural disasters such as hurricanes or tornadoes.
In addition, the trailer can also be used for volunteers working diligently cleaning up storm debris and even church events.
Martin Fancher with the Gulf States Conference says this is a huge accomplishment, but it’s only the first step.
“We are already purchasing an 8×12 or 14 trailer but instead of it saying shower and laundry it will say home and yard. So, if a hurricane comes in, we can clean up branches, cut yard, put tarps on roofs, and just do some basic utilities. I’m not even scratching the surface of the iceberg of what we can do,” Fancher said.
The trailer will be staged in Dothan and can be used throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and the western portion of the Florida Panhandle.
