DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Dothan Fire Department hosted it’s 6th annual “Going for the Gold” family day in August. On Wednesday evening, the fire department presented the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital with a check.
“Starting back on Aug. 24. we had our going for the gold event, where we raised money and awareness, we were able to raise $11,500.” Fire Department Battalion Chief David Hasty said.
Each year the Dothan Fire Department put this event on to shine a light on childhood cancer.
“Every year they raise money starting in August for children’s hospital of Alabama and the money goes to the developmental therapeutics program within our cancer center,” said Carmen Maddox, from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
