DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — For those who may not know, September 17th is a day of history — the day the constitution was signed over 200 years ago.

The Dothan chapter of DAR met at Headland Presbyterian Church at Landmark Park to host a bell ringing dressed in revolutionary war clothing to celebrate the anniversary.

The ceremony consisted of going over rituals and just sharing the significance of the important day.

“We hear a lot about the constitution today on television and yall need to go read it, think about it, and appreciate it,” Jessica Gautney said. “The Bill of Rights is quoted frequently and just to read and find out.”

Bells rang at the same time today from coast to coast to celebrate constitution week.
