Dog owners attend annual Pawsfest

HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — Dog owners came out before the rain to spend their Saturday with their fur baby on the square in Headland for Pawsfest.

At Pawsfest, there were vendors selling toys and food, a Halloween costume contest with Halloween being days away, as well as a dog parade.

The big pet party even brought a dog owner from the Birmingham area down to the Wiregrass to participate.

“I came all the way from Birmingham to come here. We bought raffle tickets, a shirt, all to support the case,” Kathy Brownell said. “This here is Maddie and she’s dressed as a witch.”

Brownell has been to several pet events including the main one in Birmingham — Do Dah Day.

“I think it’s great here. I can’t believe they have like 19 contestants. Think about it that’s $25 apiece going towards a great cause like helping animals,” She said.

The money raised at the fundraiser helps fund the Headland Animal Shelter with food, cleaning supplies, and shelter improvements.
