DCS releases new cell phone policy revisions

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan City Schools released two new cell phone policy revisions.

Many parents claim the original policy was too strict and extreme. During the press conference on Thursday, Chairperson Scott Faulk presented new drafts.

All of the drafts’ policies stated that a student’s first cellphone offense will result in their phone being taken away and only released to a parent or guardian. A second offense will result in 90 days at Pass Academy.

“I feel all kids should have their phones because of the things that are going on in the world. Kids should not go without their cellphones because anything can happen,” Demarcus Allen said.

The third draft will feature a two-day suspension.
