COVID-19 affecting the recruiting process for future college athletes

HARTFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — Geneva County’s star running back Emmanuel Henderson is the top running back in the state of Alabama for the Class of 2022 drawing 26 overall offers from some of the best college football programs in the nation.

Well since the pandemic began, the recruiting process has been a little difficult to go through especially when the most important part of the process is to tour the campus of these schools and even check out big games from the sidelines.

“It slowed down the process a little bit more but it was a good thing so I can get my head on straight and continue to be humble but it was a great thing that it did but when it all gets over with I will be visiting those colleges,” Emmanuel Henderson said.

Well, the list of colleges Henderson will be heading to is down to ten now. Although it’s not the normal feel of the recruiting process, he says it’s not a time to let his guard down. He wants to make sure he is still on these coaches’ minds and the relationships are getting stronger.

“We communicate a lot maybe twice to even three times a week. We play games sometimes just to build up a relationship and get to know each other better,”

Henderson would normally be busy every weekend attending games but he says one plus that he can pull out from the pandemic is having time to make himself better.

“Oh I’m just grinding outside of school in the books and on the field both so I just been working hard,” He said.
