Community shows appreciation for Dothan first responders

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — With September 11th days away, Wesley Place on Honeysuckle held a first responders appreciation event Saturday.

At the event, people of the community had the chance to thank the hard-working men and women of the fire department, police department, ambulance service, and all of those who serve and protect 365 days a year and seven days a week.

Children were able to interchange with all of those departments in a fun way.

“They just don’t have many opportunities to interact with these guys outside of a scary event. It’s important to know they are approachable and that they can trust these people,” said Holly Whitehead, Wesley Place on Honeysuckle Marketing Director.

“It’s very important to me and all of us. It’s very important to get out to the community because a lot of the time we’re withdrawn from each other,” Deputy Brandon Bagwell said. So, getting together and getting a chance to open that communication up, it works out for the best.”

Awards were given out to every department serving the Dothan area.
