A Houston County Commissioner explains Governor Ivey’s stay at home order

HOUSTON COUNTY (WDHN) — Brandon Shoupe is telling Houston County residences what they need to know as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

His YouTube video begins by explaining what shelter in place means and what it will affect going forward. His video was recorded before the Governor’s announcement of the Stay at Home order, so some of the information is outdated. Alabama will be under a Stay at Home order Saturday at 5 p.m.

Next he explains how Small Business Administration loans work for businesses. He explains both the paycheck protection program (PPP) and the EIDL program. The PPP loans money to help business to keep paying their employee. This loan can be forgiven up to 100 percent. The EIDL program is similar to a disaster loan. Through it up to 2 million dollars can be borrowed and the maximum interest rate is 3.5 percent.

Finally, he explains how to get tested for COVID-19 in Houston County. The Houston County Health Department offers the tests.
