Coffee County EMA: Pea River level adjusted downward at Elba

News

ELBA, Ala. (WDHN) — As residents anxiously await rising river levels across the Wiregrass, the forecast for the Pea River at Elba is optimistic.

In a email to WDHN News Friday morning, Coffee County Emergency Management Director James Brown, said the forecast for the Pea River has been adjusted downward from the level that, at one time, would have been in the top five of all-time crests on that river in Elba.

Referring to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, Brown said, “Their current prediction is for a crest at 7 PM tonight at 32.1 feet (barely in the moderate flood stage) then quickly coming back to minor flood stage and out of flood stage altogether by 1 PM on Sunday.”
