Capital murder case against Dothan woman dismissed, headed to grand jury

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A Dothan woman who was charged with capital murder two years ago, got her charge dismissed, leading the case to go back before a grand jury.

Dama Nell Clark, one of the four suspects in the 2016 death of Paxton Kennedy, was scheduled to go to trial next month. She is now out on bond.

In January 2016, Clark was charged with capital murder in the shooting death of Kennedy, who was shot in the head while he sat inside his truck on Hartzog Road in Wicksburg.

Joshua Steven Nance, Clark’s boyfriend, was originally charged with capital murder but was found guilty of a lesser charge of manslaughter.

In February 2019, Pamela Henderson Whitaker and Eric Lance West were charged with capital murder, but both of their charges were also dismissed,

Officials believe the shooting was drug-related.
