UPDATE: DPD investigation of Highway 84 incident determines a suicide

UPDATE 5/9/2020:

Daleville Police Chief Allen Medley has confirmed to WDHN that the unidentified man found dead at the scene parked his car in the middle of the road, walked to the Choctawhatchee River Bridge, and shot himself.

With the car lights off and it being night time, another driver came upon the scene and crashed into the man’s parked car.

No further information is available at this time.

UPDATE 5/8/2020 12 a.m.:

Daleville police department along with other surrounding law enforcement agencies responded to a call about a two-vehicle accident near the Choctawhatchee River bridge.

According to Daleville Police Chief Allen Medley, officers found one person dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released.

As of now, there is no suspect in the case. The case is under investigation.

More information on the case is planning to be released Monday. We will continue to update.

DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — WDHN is on the way to a scene in Dale County where reports say an individual has been found dead on the side of the road with a gunshot wound to the head.
