BREAKING: Fire breaks out at Dothan gas station

News

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A vehicle crashed into a gas pump at the Petro Gas Station at the corner of Cottonwood Road and Third Avenue.

The driver was backing up in the parking lot, the driver’s foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas.

That caused the pump to go flying off its foundation, and flames burst out six to eight feet high.

This could have been really bad, but the gas station owner made the right call quickly.

“We’ll make sure that’s shut down, put down absorbent material for any gasoline that still may be on the apron around the case pumps, and then they’ll contact their service technicians to come back and get that pump in service,” Deputy Fire Chief Chris Etheredge said.

Nobody was injured.
