BLAKELY, GA. (WDHN) — Seven qualified in August to run for office in the Blakely municipal election. The election was held on Tuesday night.
In the mayoral race, Travis Wimbush had a total of 618 votes (42%) and Anthony Howard with a total of 558 votes (38%). The two candidates will be in a run-off on Dec. 3.
For the city council, in District 1 Post 2, Margaret Zachary with a total of 400 votes (57%) defeated Frank Thornton who received 294 votes (42%).
In District 2 Post 2, Ray Jarrett with 588 votes (97%) won the seat with no competition.
