Black Friday going well for some retailers

DOTHAN, Al. (WDHN) — Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving where people go crazy to get the best deals for Christmas season.

A lot of retailers open early, others don’t. Some retailers even open Thanksgiving evening.

“We’ve been excited and looking forward to Black Friday, Dove Christian Supply owner Donna Mccollough said. “Usually we don’t really open the doors early.”

Some retailers get ready months in advance to prepare for Black Friday and Thanksgiving.

“We’ve been preparing probably since the mid-summer to get everything ready and have our trees and everything decorated and lots of product to sell,” Mccollough said.

Of course, pleasing the customers is one of the main focuses of retailers.

“It has been going well, customers Jeremy and Kandi Elrod said. “Remarkably well, we’ve gotten a lot of good deals. A lot of things that the kids and grand kids want.”

Then there’s also the rowdy crowds and bad experiences, but it wasn’t all bad for Dothan.

“I thought it was going to be bad, but it is beautiful outside,” customer Angela Tice said. “It’s just great.”

It appears that a lot of the local retailers had a good day in sales.

“It’s been tremendous,” Ark Thrift office administrator Denice Papac said. “We opened all the stores this morning two hours earlier than normal and had customers even waiting at some of the stores when we got there at 8 o’clock this morning. So, it’s been a tremendous response. We’ve been very thankful for that.”
