Birmingham police officer charged with sex abuse; bond set at $15,000

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham Police Department has obtained a felony warrant against a fellow Birmingham police officer. 

Devin Carlisle, 25, of Birmingham is charged with first-degree sex abuse by force. 

The department received a complaint on Jan. 7, 2019, with allegations of misconduct by the officer while on duty, according to police. After learning about the allegations, Carlisle was immediately placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation. 

After investigation, police confirmed the allegations and took Carlisle into custody at Birmingham Police headquarters and transported him to the Jefferson County Jail. 

Carlisle has been with the Birmingham Police Department since April 18, 2016. Since then, he has worked in the patrol division at the North Precinct. 

Carlisle’s bond is set at $15,000.
