WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WDHN) — A Chipley woman ended up behind bars after she allegedly tried to elude a deputy and got stuck in a ditch, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 2 a.m. last Wednesday, a deputy saw a truck moving along State Road 77 that appeared to be related to a separate suspicious activity call over in Sunny Hills.
A release from the sheriff’s office states that the deputy tried to stop the truck, but it started speeding on Monroe Sheffield Road. However, the chase ended up being short-lived when the truck turned too fast, hitting a ditch on Gainer Road.,
When the deputy approached, he found Wendy Riley, 46, of Chipley standing behind her vehicle.
She told him that she wasn’t trying to escape the deputy. She said she was actually trying to go to work.
However, a search of the truck found “two glass pipes, five syringes, and multiple cotton balls and plastic bags,” all of which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Riley was then taken into custody on possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.
