No charges to be filed in Kinsey domestic incident, sheriff says

After completing its investigation, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office will not be filing charges in a domestic incident that happened Sunday.

WDHN was previously told by Kinsey’s mayor that a shooting had occurred that evening. However, Sheriff Donald Valenza said the incident involved a pellet gun, and no injuries were reported.

KINSEY, Ala. (WDHN) – An investigation is underway after a shooting Sunday night in northern Houston County. 

Mayor Jason Reneau confirms to WDHN News that a shooting happened Sunday evening on Mikado Road in Kinsey. The Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Kinsey Police Department, and other emergency units responded to the scene.

Initial reports indicate a woman was shot, but the severity of the injuries is unknown. No other details were available.

Mayor Reneau said the Houston County Sheriff’s Office will be leading the investigation. More information is expected to be released Monday.
