Auburn Fan Day brings thousands of fans to the plains

AUBURN, Ala. (WDHN) — You would have thought it was a game down on the plains this past weekend with tons of orange and blue. We’re close to college football season, but not quite. However, it was the first step — Fan day.

“We’re very excited about football season coming up and we just thought this would be an awesome way to kick off SEC football,” Summer Moon said.

Fan Day is a time for the Auburn family to socialize, meet and greet the players, as well as get autographs. One family took the trip from North Alabama to support one of their own.

“We’re big Auburn fans anyway, we’re Auburn family now. Going into our second year. My son is Coynis Miller Jr. number eight defensive tackle,” said Cunningham, the mother of Coynis Miller Jr.

Cunningham said she hopes to see her son as a wrecking ball on defense.

“Oh to dominate the field. We’re gonna dominate baby,” she said.

Hundreds of people came down to support the Tigers. Fans stood in line for hours to get pictures with their favorite players. Most of the fans wanted to get a picture with the two potential starting quarterbacks — Joey Gatewood and Bo Nix.

“I don’t really know who is going to start. I think Bo will start. Either way, we’re going to root for whoever,” Summer Moon and her children said.

The Auburn football season kicks off August 31 as they take on the Oregon Ducks in Arlington Texas.
