HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) – A Saturday night, single-vehicle wreck in southeast Houston County claimed the life of a Gordon man, according to the Alabama Highway Patrol.
In a news release sent to WDHN News, Sgt. Michael Simmons said Huey Graham Lee III, 39, was killed when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway, struck a mailbox, and overturned.
“Lee was not using a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle,” Sgt. Simmons said. “Lee was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The wreck happened shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday night on Fire Department Road, about ten miles south of Gordon.
A passenger in the car was seriously injured in the wreck and was life-flighted to a Tallahassee hospital.
“Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash,” the news release stated.
ALEA continues to investigate the crash.
