ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — Pearline Hardge brooks celebrated a milestone turning 104 years old. Ms. Brooks has 17 children, 30 plus grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren.
“She really enjoys life and has enjoyed life and raising her children. As a daughter growing up, there was always breakfast lunch and dinner prepared for us and she will always be there for us,” Rosie Brooks Davis said
She touched so many not only her children but stepchildren she raised as she called her own and she has touched so many lives, family, friends, and the community, and she’s been the rock,” Kimberly Brooks Pennington said.
Even though it’s a pandemic, it didn’t hold loved ones down from showing their love and putting on the show of a lifetime for Ms. Brooks. Family and friends in the community gathered for a drive-by celebration to drop off gifts and just say hello bringing the party to her as she stayed inside.
Rosie and Kimberly say although they had to take a different approach to celebrate mom on her big day, It happened to work out for the good.
“It definitely has lifted her spirits and so we’re grateful she had this opportunity to see her children, grandchildren, and even great great great grandchildren,” Kimberly Brooks Pennington said.
“Thank God for this day and for many many more years for mother,” Rosie Brooks Davis said
Shortly after the drive-by celebration, the family held a barbecue for Ms. Brooks.
