A tree planting to honor the life of “Late” Hartford Mayor and Councilman Eria Sorrells

Hartford, Ala. (WDHN)—State and local officials posthumously honored late Hartford Mayor and councilman Eria Sorrells.

This summer, the 79-year-old Hartford native died after contracting Covid-19.

In his honor, a maple tree was planted between the Johnny Hughes Community Center and
the Hartford Senior Center.

For Sorrell’s family, it was truly a special moment.

They say the “late” Mayor loved his hometown and its people.

In years to come, the maple tree in honor of the late mayor is expected to grow to 60-feet or even higher.
