SAMSON, Ala. (WDHN) — A four-year-old is in the hospital after being bitten by dogs Wednesday, according to the Samson Police Department.
A post on the department’s Facebook page states a call came into its dispatch about a child being attacked by dogs.
Upon arrival, the four-year-old’s father told police that the child was visiting his grandparents at the time. When his grandmother started feeding the dogs — approximately three boxer-lab mixes, according to Hill — the animals began fighting.
The child tried to get them to stop, only to get caught in the violence. The dogs ended up biting the child on the face and shoulder.
The four-year-old was taken to Wiregrass Hospital and transferred to Birmingham for further treatment. Animal control took the dogs into custody and placed them into quarantine.
