3 Marion County escaped inmates now back in custody


UPDATE: All three escaped inmates have been located and are now back in custody at this time. 

The three inmates are charged with escape in the first degree, robbery in the first, theft of property in the third, breaking an entering of a vehicle, kidnapping first, assault first, and theft of property fourth degree. 

ORIGINAL: The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is searching for three inmates who overpowered a correctional officer before escaping the facility. 

Inmates Thomas Joe Green, Leslie Dewayne Cameron, and Christopher Cole Spain escaped around 2 a..m. Thursday morning, according to Sheriff Kevin Williams. 

  • Green is 6’0″, 170 pounds, has hazel eyes and brown hair. 
  • Cameron is 5’11”, 175 pounds, has brown eyes and brown hair. 
  • Spain is 5’10”, 165 pounds, has hazel eyes and brown hair. 

Authorities do not know the inmates’ direction of travel at this time. 

Green was incarcerated for first-degree rape and second-degree escape. Sheriff Williams says he has ties to Colbert County, Alabama and Joiner, Arkansas.

Cameron was charged with attempting to elude and false identity to obstruct justice. He has ties to Franklin County, Alabama.

Spain was charged with first-degree theft of property, first-degree criminal mischief, and breaking and entering a vehicle. He has ties to Nauvoo and Jasper in Walker County, Alabama.
