12 years ago today, a killer tornado hit Enterprise High School

Today marks a tragic anniversary in the Wiregrass.

At 1:13 P.M. on March 1st 2007, a tornado made a direct hit on Enterprise High School. Its 170-mile-per-hour winds caused Third Hall to implode, crushing eight students.

A memorial is now located at the site of Third Hall, where the names of those killed are honored. The tornado is considered one of the worst natural disasters ever to strike a school in American history, and was the first killer tornado at a U.S. school since 1990.
