Memorial set for Dale County doctor who died from COVID-19

OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — Dale Medical Center is in mourning after one of its emergency room doctors died from COVID-19.

An official source said Dr. Thomas Rose died from COVID-19-related complications on Aug. 4. Rose was one of the hospital’s six doctors for emergency medicine, according to the hospital’s online staff directory.

“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of one of our own, Dr. Thomas Rose,” the hospital wrote on Facebook Tuesday. “He will be remembered by the staff of Dale Medical Center as a friend, great physician and a fighter. He has served as an Emergency Room physician for the last nine years treating and touching so many lives.”

In memory of the doctor, Dale Medical Center will hold a service Friday in its front parking lot at 10 a.m.

All are welcome to the service.

In total, 23 Dale County residents have died from the virus.
