DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The Dale County Board of Education announced Wednesday that a G.W. Long employee contracted COVID-19 after the employee tested positive.
The employee reportedly showed symptoms Tuesday night and tested positive the day after. According to the district, the employee was not on campus while symptomatic.
Students and employees that were in close contact with the employee were already tracked down and notified by the school system.
The board asks that students and employees to monitor their health to catch the disease before spreading it further.
“HOME is the first point on the screening continuum,” the system said online. “Students and employees that exhibit the symptoms of COVID–19 should stay at home. Families are encouraged to self-monitor symptoms of illness, which could include fever, dry cough, stomach ache in children, sore throat, etc. People with concerns or exhibiting symptoms should contact their healthcare provider.”
