8 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Dale County; one in Houston

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — More people are dying from COVID-19 in the Wiregrass.

Dale County now reports 16 total deaths, a jump by eight from Thursday’s total.

The county also shot above coffee county once again with a spike in new cases.

Meanwhile, Houston County still leads in the Southeastern District and also reported one new death.

Alabama has confirmed over 74,365 cases and 1,395 deaths.

However, even with cases on the rise, the Alabama Department of Public Health has downgraded the risk levels in our local counties.

Dale and Geneva counties still have the very high risk designation.

But Coffee, Covington, Henry, and Houston counties are now just high risk counties for COVID-19.

This upcoming Monday, Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba and Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver will hold a conference of the local response to the pandemic.

We will live stream it on our website.
