PHILADELPHIA – (WDHN) Tied at 7-7 in the second quarter, Navy put together an impressive drive to end the first half of the 2019 Army vs. Navy football rivalry game.
Enterprise native Chance Warren made one of the biggest and memorable plays of the game. Warren, lined up as a receiver, took a toss in the backfield from the quarterback. What looked to be a running play threw Army for a surprise when Warren pulled up to throw a touchdown pass to the end zone. Navy receiver Jamale Carothers pulled in the pass to put the Midshipmen ahead.
Enterprise has significant ties to the Navy side of the game today with not only the Warren touchdown pass, but also with linebacker Nizaire Cromartie. Cromartie is wearing a patch today honoring Navy Ensign Joshua Kaleb Watson, a native of Enterprise, who was killed in the shooting attack at the naval base in Pensacola.
Watson’s body was flown into Dothan Friday morning and returned to Enterprise in a processional that brought thousands to the side of local roadways to pay respects. You can watch some of the processional here.
The game is being played at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. There are 11 players on Navy’s team from Alabama. Three Alabamians are on the Army football team.
President Donald Trump is in attendance.
