GREENVILLE, Ala. — The mayor of Greenville, Alabama, and his wife have tested positive for COVID-19.
Mayor Dexter McLendon said he and his wife were sick for more than a week but began feeling worse in the days leading up to his announcement.
The couple is now waiting for their fevers to subside, at which point they will get tested again.
Greenville is the seat of Butler County, which has 139 cases and two deaths so far.
McLendon said prior to his diagnosis, he took the virus less seriously.
