Wal-Mart customers, others targeted in scam

An email appearing to have been sent by Wal-Mart asks for personal information regarding a failed online order.
Wal-Mart customers are being targeted by a scam, according to the Better Business Bureau the retailer.

An email appearing to have been sent by Wal-Mart asks for personal information regarding a failed online order.

"As soon as you click on that form, it could have a virus attached to the email or if you fill out the information, now you don't know who you are giving it to because the original email was not from Wal-Mart," said Janet Robb of the Better Business Bureau.

Wal-Mart posted this response to their Facebook page on Thursday, "We do not solicit online for individuals to complete online surveys for gift cards, nor do we send unsolicited emails asking individuals to participate in our surveys."

Consumer experts say the same scam also targeted Amazon customers.
