Roberts, a native of Hoover, Ala., had a pair of sacks, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and seven tackles in Troy’s nationally televised game at Louisiana-Lafayette last Thursday.
He is the second Troy player to earn the league’s defensive player of the week award this season as fellow defensive end Jadarius Garner won the honor on Sept. 9. Roberts is the fifth Trojan to earn Sun Belt Player of the Week honors this season.
Facing one of the top offensive line units in the conference, Roberts was in the Cajun backfield most of the contest. His sacks came on a three-play sequence where he dropped ULL quarterback Terrance Broadway twice behind the line and stuffed him for no gain on the other play.
Roberts ranks second in the conference with 6.0 sacks on the year and is eighth with 8.5 tackles for loss this season.
The Trojans step out of conference for the final time this season as they travel to Ole Miss on Saturday. Kickoff is schedule for 11 a.m. and the game will be televised live on ESPNU.
