Suspected Burglar Nabbed After High Speed Chase

A pursuit that began in Midland City ended with patrol car ramming chased vehicle.
A high speed chase that began at Midland City ended when the SUV pursued was rammed by a police cruiser in Houston County. The chase began shortly after 5:00 Tuesday ending about 15 minutes later near the Dothan city limits on Fortner Street about a mile west of Brannon Stand Road.

The man driving the SUV was arrested and is believed to have been involved in a recent burglary at a Midland City coin operated laundry. Officers say he was spotted inside the business again Tuesday and law enforcement was notified. That triggered the pursuit during which nobody was hurt and the patrol car only slightly damaged.

The SUV had a license plate that apparently should be displayed on car registered in Coffee County. An initial check did not show the vehicle was stolen though additional information is being conducted.

Houston County deputies and Dothan police officers assisted in the chase and subsequent apprehension of the man. Though a name was given at the scene we will not release it because it is a common name and, until we have additional information, we don’t want to cause confusion.
