Senior citizens bus crashes enroute to Peanut Festival

Eleven people are believed to have been transported to Dothan hospitals with two injuries deemed serious but non-life threatening.
Several people were injured Thursday when a senior citizens bus in which they were traveling crashed with two other vehicles in front of the National Peanut Festival. The group was apparently headed to festival when the accident occurred on U.S. 231 South.

Eleven people are believed to have been transported to Dothan hospitals with two injuries deemed serious but non-life threatening. It’s not immediately clear how many people in the bus were hurt. Another bus was dispatched to help transport some for possible treatment. Ambulances took others to the hospital.

The bus was from the Burdeshaw Solomon Senior Citizens Center in Headland. The group is believed to have been heading to the Festival for Seniors Day that was scheduled to begin about the time the crash occurred.
