Santa for Seniors Program to Start Soon

Volunteers spread Christmas joy to Wiregrass senior citizens.
The holiday season is just around the corner, and the Southern Alabama Regional Council On Aging is preparing to help out senior citizens in need of assistance.

Every year SARCOA posts a list of senior citizens and their needs on their website. Volunteers can then read each senior's story and pick one to adopt. Rather than traditional gifts, simple items like food, cleaning supplies, and clothing to keep them warm in the winter months are requested.

Jessica Franklin, who has worked with the "Santa for Seniors" project for five years, says, "The success of this project is based one-hundred percent on the generosity of the Wiregrass."

This year the "Santa for Seniors" project will share the holiday spirit with an estimated 400 senior citizens around the Wiregrass.

This year's adoption list will be released on November 15. If you are interested in adopting a senior, the list can be found at
