Previously organizers limited pick-up to the Friday before the race. This change allows interested runners of all ages to stop by the Registration Tent manned by race management team Montgomery Multisport immediately prior to starting the race. Please note, runners must pre-register via the SACF website and active.com. Runners can still avoid lines and pick up their race materials on Friday, January 31 at the Dothan Civic Center (126 North Saint Andrews Street) from 12 to 6 p.m.
The race, which will start and end this year at Flowers Hospital on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 8 a.m., annually attracts hundreds of runners and raises more than $20,000 for area nonprofits. The funding raised helps provide services to local nonprofits such as vaccines and supplies for Save a Pet (Dothan), books and resources to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, Inc., Houston Love Memorial Library to place books in homes of K-3rd grade children living in low-income housing, and United Way's 2-1-1 services to help residents throughout the Wiregrass become self-sufficient to name a few.
The event offers a mid-level course, post race beverages and refreshments along with trophies and noncash prizes. There is not a true time limit, but timing equipment will be dismantled at the four hour mark.
“This is a great course. It’s scenic but challenging with hills. There’s a dirt path going through the woods which is beautiful,” said Robbie Sandlin, Co-owner of Montgomery Multisport. Sandlin and Co-owner Hardy Sellers manage and time the race.
The lead sponsor of the race is Flowers Hospital. All race participants will receive a medal and t-shirt.
The Half Marathon entry fee is $75 ($65 for military). Registration closes January 31st at 11 a.m.
Entry fees start at $25 for the 5K. Its registration closes the morning of the race.
