Second man in a week arrested for police assault

Ricardo Salmon is accused of striking an officer with his head while trying to escape after being handcuffed and placed on the curb.
A man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly assaulted a Dothan police officer while trying to escape custody. Ricardo Alwayne Salmon, 28, was taken into custody and charged with multiple crimes, according to a press release.

Salmon is accused of striking an officer with his head while trying to escape after being handcuffed and placed on the curb. Police say Salmon, following a traffic stop, was found to be in possession of counterfeit currency. While being placed in a patrol car he tried to escape a second time, according to the release.

Salmon is charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Assault, and two counts of Escape. He was jailed under bonds totaling $600,000.
