Reading: I'm Happy With Vote, Will Face Runoff

"My utopian dream would have been to have won outright."

Incumbent Dothan commissioner James Reading is headed toward a runoff but he's happy to finish atop a field of four candidates during Tuesday's election.  "I'm grateful for the support I received and I'm looking forward to a runoff."  Reading will face Kevin Dorsey during a September 17 runoff for District One.

Final results show Reading receiving 598 votes while Dorsey garnered 375.  Former commissioner Larry Matthews received 317 while Darrell V. Davis got 103.

"I want to congratulate all my opponents for a clean race and I'm looking forward to the runoff," said Reading. "My utopian dream would have been to have won outright tonight but, with four candidates in the race, that would have been almost impossible. However, I'm happy to have received 43% of the vote."
