Man arrested on more charges he stalked women

The charges stem from phone calls he allegedly made to women while they were at home and work.
A Dothan man arrested earlier this week for stalking a woman now faces 15 additional charges. They were filed Friday against Philip Van McArdle  in the Houston County Clerk’s office. The charges stem from phone calls he allegedly made to women while they were at home and work.

McArdle was arrested this past weekend after eluding investigators for several months. Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said a pre-paid cell phone that was not registered in McArdle’s name made him hard to catch.

When announcing the arrest Monday, Hughes said some 18 women were targeted by McArdle with some illegal phone calls dating back several years.

The charges filed Friday is in connection to a far less number of alleged victims than 18 with multiple charges filed involving a single woman. That may indicate that yet more charges could be filed against McArdle who is being held in the Houston County Jail.
