One dead in early morning crash in Geneva County

One person was killed in an early morning accident in Geneva County.
An early morning accident claimed the life of a Geneva County resident.

It happened on Highway 27 north, about two miles north of Alabama Highway 52 in the Geneva city limits.

One car was involved in the accident.

Police say that it appears that 21-year-old Warren Tate Sutherland lost control of the suv he was driving and ran off the road and into at least one tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second person, Jay Jones, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital where he remains due to the extent of his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
