Neighbors worry as police search for kidnapper

"You don't know what he's looking for or what stuff he's pinpointing out in these kids. You don't know if your kid's next. You don't know,” said a neighbor.
Police are still searching for a man they say kidnapped and molested at least two Dothan children. Officers are very concerned about this man. They’re searching the neighborhoods he's hit and trying to figure out his next move. Police aren’t the only ones on the lookout though… neighbors are very concerned. In fact, many of the neighbors we spoke with today have children and they say they're terrified. Some are even making plans to move out.

"You don't know what he's looking for or what stuff he's pinpointing out in these kids. You don't know if your kid's next. You don't know,” said Amber, a neighbor who did not want to identify her last name. Ever since she heard about the abductions she’s been scared even in her own home.

Police say the man they're searching for abducted two young girls from their homes in the middle of the night and then took them back home after sexually assaulting them. In a third case, it’s believed the man attempted to kidnap another girl but was scared away by the girl's screams. The first incident happened in early September, the second a month later and the most recent one just this past weekend-- all in Dothan trailer parks (Lavista, Garden Estates and Pointe South Trailer Parks).

"He's deciding that these particular people he's targeted is the ones he's going after so whenever you have something like that you want to get as much resources as possible to try to get this person off the streets," said Sgt. Maurice Eggleston of the Dothan Police Department.

"If he's done it at other trailer parks he could come back here. Who's to say that he won't? Any little noise I heard I thought someone was coming through the window or trying to get in the house. I'd come out the window to make sure there wasn't anybody in my yard," said Amber.

She's not the only one; neighbors are afraid to let their children outside and many just want to pack up and leave. They say they won't feel safe until this man is found.

Police say they're looking for a light skinned black or Hispanic man. They believe he was last seen wearing dark clothing and may have access to a dark Nissan passenger car. If you have any information contact Dothan Police at 793-0215.
