Airport fire chief arrested on drunk driving charge

Charles Keith Middlebrooks, 53, was arrested Saturday evening after he was involved in a single vehicle traffic accident.
The Dothan Airport fire chief has been arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence. A copy of a citation obtained by WDHN shows Charles Keith Middlebrooks, 53, was arrested Saturday evening after he was involved in a single vehicle traffic accident.

The citation, issued by an Alabama state trooper, alleges Middlebrooks “did drive or be in actual physical control of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol”. It claims the violation took place along Henry County Road 55 near the intersection of County Road 8. He is not believed to have sustained serious injury when his pickup truck crashed.

Dothan Airport Manager Art Morris said he was told by Middlebrooks of the incident. “He will continue to perform his job until trial,” Morris said. He added that additional evaluation will be done after the case is resolved. “He’s a good employee and is remorseful (regarding the arrest),” Morris said Thursday.

He has a court appearance scheduled January 8.
