Houston Academy Becomes Collection Site for Food Bank

People Participating in "Raider Run" Can Bring Non-Perishable Food Items to School
Houston Academy is holding its annual "Raider Run" 5K this Saturday.

And this year, the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank is making the school a collection site.

Tomorrow from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., people can drop off any nonperishable food items at the school.

Food Bank Development Director Julie Gonzalez says the process this year couldn't be easier.

"They're going to have a drive-thru kind of food drive.  Participants that would like to donate to the food drive can simply just roll down their window, drive through the parking lot, and the students and staff will just take the canned goods right out of your hands just as you drive through the parking lot," Gonzalez says.

Last year, the school collected 2,800 cans.
