High Ranking Dothan Officer Off Job Pending Probe

Captain Keith Gray placed on administrative leave after weekend fight in which he was not involved.
A high ranking Dothan police officer has been placed on administrative leave following a fight which occurred over the weekend. Captain Keith Gray was relieved of duties pending the findings of an internal affairs investigation.

He is not believed to have been involved in the fight or in the whereabouts of where it occurred, according to sources familiar with the probe. Those sources say it is believed that Gray is known to club members.

Police Chief Greg Benton would only confirm that Gray has been placed on leave with pay but would not elaborate. “I cannot comment on personnel matters,” the chief said in a text message.

Several people were arrested early Sunday near a downtown club after some type of altercation that left at least one person injured. Some of those involved are believed to be members of the “Outcast Motorcycle Club” that bills itself as the largest black motorcycle club in the nation.

Gray has not been charged with criminal wrongdoing nor has he, at this point, been accused of violating department policy.
