Marvin Turner served five terms representing District 3
One of the longest serving Henry County commissioners in history died early Thursday. Marvin Turner of Abbeville passed away at his home according to an obituary from Holman-Abbeville Mortuary. He was 89.

Turner served as the District 3 commissioner from November, 1973 until January 1994. His son, Lamar, is a former Henry County Probate Judge.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 31, 2013, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Gerald Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Judson Baptist Church, c/o Marilynn Turner, 83 Kelsey Drive, Abbeville, AL 36310. Mr. Turner was born and reared in the Edwin Community of Henry County, son of the late Jim Turner and Florence Free Turner. He lived most of his lifetime in Henry County and Abbeville. Mr. Turner was a member of the Judson Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was retired as the owner and operator of Turner Timber Company.
