Drivers are concerned about a dangerous intersection in Dothan.  Ryan Kiate described the intersection of Highway 52 and Omussee Road as dangerous. "With the trucks coming down hill a lot, it’s hard to see around them,” said Kiate.

According to the Dothan Police Department, Highway 52 at Omussee Road has been the site of six traffic accidents since 2010.   A deadly wreck at the intersection Tuesday evening was the first fatality at that intersection in the last three years. Cody Stephenson is concerned more people could be hurt if nothing is done soon.

Stephenson said it's a combination of issues that make the intersection dangerous for drivers. "I've seen people have to slam on breaks to move. They need to put a light there maybe. Something needs to go there.  It's very dangerous right there, continued Stephenson.

Drivers like Roy Cooley aren't so sure that a traffic light needs to be installed. He says it’s not the intersection that's the problem, its drivers.  "Everyone is in a hurry when they shouldn't be and going over the speed limit and passing when they shouldn't be.  "

Earlier this year a traffic light was installed at a busy intersection in Cowarts. The city worked with Houston County and ALDOT to get a light at the intersection of Glen Lawrence Road, Forrester Road and Highway 84.
