The third grade teaching team from Selma Street Elementary School is the main recipient of the CenturyLink Technology Grant provided by the Dothan Education Foundation (DEF).

This grant will give every third grader at Selma Street Elementary access to hands-on learning with cutting edge technology by providing 15 Chromebooks.

This will also mark the beginning of a pilot program, “Chromebooks in the Classroom,” which will give Dothan City Schools additional opportunities to enrich student’s learning environment. The pilot program will also allow teachers to gage how beneficial these devices are for the classroom.

The funding from CenturyLink is one of many examples of local businesses partnering with the DEF. Through partnerships like these, the DEF has awarded more than $310,000 to Dothan City Schools providing students with more opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t have been possible.
