On site for a meet-and-greet with fans include characters from the popular A&E’s Shipping Wars, truTV’s Lizard Lick Towing and the History channel’s Ax Men.
Toadlick President Chris Gilbert said having the reality TV entertainers brings something different to the festival. All three shows, he said, should be familiar to Toadlick festival goers.
“We expect that a lot of people who enjoy the country and Southern rock music which is Toadlick, will also be fans of shows like Lizard Lick Towing, Shipping Wars and Ax Men,” Gilbert said. “All three of these shows have working-man themes that we think resonates with Toadlick fans.”
Fans may interact and get autographs from Jennifer Brennan, the Texas born and raised darling of Shipping Wars; cousin Johnny and Krazy Dave of Lizard Lick Towing; and the feisty Dreadknots, Ax Men loggers who operate on the Withlacoochee River in north Florida.
Shipping Wars debuted in 2012 with more than 3 million viewers. The show follows the high-stakes world of heavy-duty independent haulers who bid on the delivery of non-traditional items. In a reverse bid process, truckers sometimes drive the bid price down in a competitive race with the clock to deliver loads on time. Jennifer loves to haul animals, and has a true love for all kinds of critters which she attributes to childhood visits to her aunt’s horse farm near Montgomery. On the show, Jennifer overcomes the woes that come with being one of a few women in a male-dominated business.
Lizard Lick Towing & Recovery is a locally owned and operated towing and repo company located in Lizard Lick, NC. The reality TV show surrounding the business is in its fourth season, having debuted in 2011. Krazy Dave is the shop mechanic who takes care of the fleet of Lizard Lick tow trucks. Cousin Johnny is Ron’s cousin who is recently out of prison and needed a job.
Ax Men, which premiered in 2008, follows the work of several logging crews from the northwest to the swampy south. Dreadknots Logging, headed by Clint Roberts, has been working to recover logs from the Whithlacoochee River of North Florida for four years. The crew, who appear in the sixth and seventh seasons of the show, find logs by firing a revolver into the water and listening for the difference in the sound of the echo.
