NASCAR Sprint Cup Series:
•The ending to yesterday’s event was reminiscent of last year’s Aaron’s 499 when Edwards and Stenhouse Jr. were running one-two late in the race. Edwards led the field to the white flag, but was passed by teammates David Ragan and David Gilliland on the final lap. Edwards wound up third and Stenhouse 13th.
•Stenhouse Jr. came back to Talladega for the October GEICO 500 last season and finished third behind Jamie McMurray and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
•Edwards is the only Sprint Cup winner in 2014 who hasn’t gone to Victory Lane at Talladega Superspeedway. His best finish was his third-place effort last May.
•Brad Keselowski is the points leader following Bristol, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. trailing by 10 points. Edwards, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson round out the top five.
NASCAR Nationwide Series:
•Busch has one Nationwide Series victory at Talladega Superspeedway—during the 2011 Aaron’s 312.
•Regan Smith, who won last year’s Aaron’s 312 at Talladega, is on top of the point standings, followed by Trevor Bayne, Ty Dillon, Chase Elliott and Elliott Sadler.
NASCAR heads to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA this weekend for the Auto Club 400 Sprint Cup Series race and the TREATMYCLOT.COM 300 Nationwide race.
NASCAR returns to Talladega Superspeedway in 2014 with the Aaron’s Dream Weekend, which is set for May 2-4. The NASCAR Nationwide Series and ARCA Racing Series will take to the track on Saturday, May 3 while NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series machines take the green flag on Sunday, May 4.
