The players will be spending some time on the court this weekend, but they will also be spending their money on dining and entertainment.
"We have 1,100 players. They'll play Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Westgate Tennis Center, at Azalea, at the country club, and at Wiregrass,” said Don Bryant, the manager at Westgate Tennis Center. “So, we have a lot of play, a lot of money being spent in Dothan, which we love."
In fact, most of the hotels have been booked for weeks. The tournament partnered up with the CVB and the leisure services to provide accommodations.
The players range in ages 40 to 55 and have won their state tournaments.
Dene Owen the tournament director said Dothan is a great place to host a tournament like this.
"Everybody benefits; the players love being in a small community. The community enjoys hosting it. And the economic impact is very significant."
The tournament ends on Sunday and trophies will be awarded to the winners.
